Prince William flies in Afghanistan

Published by davidallen at 11:07 am under Abroad, Military, Royal Family, UK Edit This

It came as a surprise when this was announced today, but Prince William who is the second in line to the throne flew into Kandahar Airbase, where he met the base personnel for around three hours before flying back to the UK on Monday.

Prince William

The prince who has been on attachment with the RAF has been training to fly all sorts of aircraft; he started off in a two seater training craft, and then moved onto helicopters. Now he is flying the mighty C 17 Globemaster military transport plane, which is over fifty metres long!

The reason for this trip is said to be to get him familiarized with the RAF operations in that part of the world. The prince left the UK from RAF Brize Norton on Sunday and he arrived back some thirty hours later.
